In this course, students delve into the essential design processes, methodologies, and tools for User Interaction/Experience (UI/UX) Design. Specifically, they will learn and apply the Human-Centered approach to research, design, prototype, and test solutions in a semester-long team-based project. Additionally, they will periodically present their projects to the class, allowing them to communicate design decisions effectively both visually and verbally. The class structure integrates lectures, design activities, and constructive feedback sessions to support project work. By the course’s conclusion, students will have:
- An understanding of the Human-Centered Design process and its application in user experience design and prototyping
- Ability to analyze user needs and recognize design requirements
- Skills to generate design ideas from user requirements
- Engaged in and respond to constructive critiques of design work as part of a community of designers
- Translated ideas into low and high fidelity prototypes
- Conducted evaluation of the design solution and gather feedback
- Developed skills to effectively communicate the design process visually and verbally at multiple stages of the design process
